Seven dead, 150 injured in Afghanistan quake

TEHRAN, Nov. 03 (MNA) – Seven people were killed and 150 injured after an earthquake of 6.3 magnitude struck near one of Afghanistan's largest cities Mazar-e Sharif early on Monday, the local health directorate said on Monday.

A magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck northern Afghanistan overnight Sunday into Monday, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said, killing at least seven people and injuring about 150, provincial authorities said on Monday.

The overnight quake, which happened two months after a tremor in the impoverished nation's east killed over 2,200 people, hit at a depth of 28 kilometers (17 miles) in Kholm, near the city of Mazar-i-Sharif, according to the USGS.
